Effective January 1, 2024, benefits will change for Retiree Health Plan
participants, their spouses, surviving spouses, and eligible dependents.
The
Alaska Electrical Health and Welfare Fund’s current retiree health plan
will terminate December 31, 2023. Instead, the Fund will provide
assistance to retirees in choosing individual coverage through Via
Benefits. If you are eligible for a subsidy for
your retiree coverage, you may also participate in a Health
Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) funded by the
Fund to help pay for the cost of your new coverage.
The
Fund’s current retiree health plan will terminate on December 31, 2023.
This change applies to all the Fund’s eligible retirees regardless of
their current medical plan election. All claims incurred for medical and
pharmacy charges covered by the Fund on or before that date will be paid
by the Fund.
FOR MORE INFORMATION ON
THIS CHANGE, CLICK HERE TO VISIT THE RETIREE H&W PAGE.
If you
have questions about this change, or need help contacting someone at Via
Benefits, the Administrative Office is available by phone at (907)
276-1246 or toll free (800) 478-1246 or by email at: aetfhw@aetf.com.

***ATTENTION RETIREES AND BENEFICIARIES***
It is
necessary for the Board of Trustees to verify that our retirees and
beneficiaries are receiving retirement benefits to which they are
entitled. Each Retiree Signature Certification form must be signed
before a Notary Public or an authorized Plan Representative, and the
original must be returned to the Administrative Office by June 16, 2023.
Failure to return this form by
June 16, 2023, could result in the suspension of your monthly
retirement benefit.
