An Rx for Savings
Although prescription drug prices increase year after year, your benefits help you keep more money in your pocket. Here’s how you can make the most of your coverage:
- Choose a CVS/Caremark pharmacy. In-network pharmacies charge discounted rates that save money for both you and the Fund.
- Ask for a generic. You’ll pay the lowest copay for generic drugs. If you choose a brand-name drug when a generic is available, you pay 100% of the retail price (unless otherwise preapproved by the Plan).
- Use the CVS/Caremark mail service for medications you take on an ongoing basis (for example, drugs used to treat high blood pressure, heart disease, asthma, or diabetes.). You get a 90-day supply for the cost of a 60-day retail copay, plus free standard shipping. Get started on caremark.com or on the app.
Download the CVS/Caremark app to conveniently manage your prescriptions by mail and through participating retail pharmacies. You can find an in-network pharmacy, refill prescriptions, view prescription history, submit new mail order prescriptions, track orders, and more.
If you need help finding a Preferred Provider, or have questions about using a non-Preferred Provider, or the penalty exception for services that are not available at the Preferred Provider Hospital or facility in Alaska, contact the Administrative Office using one of the below methods.
